Jeremy Hall

Keynote Title The Role of Operations and Supply Chain Management Research for Addressing the Climate Crisis

Jeremy Hall is Professor of Innovation Studies and Director of the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), University of Sussex Business School, and former Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Engineering and Technology Management (2011-2021).

His research investigates the social impacts and unanticipated outcomes of innovation and entrepreneurship, sustainable supply chains and social inclusion, where he has collaborated with a range of natural and social scientists with grants from numerus funding agencies.

Prior to joining Sussex, he held tenured positions at the University of Calgary and Simon Fraser University, and Chaired Professorships at the Universities of Nottingham and Surrey.

He has published widely in business, management and policy journals and has edited special issues for Business and Society, Ecological Economics, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Journal of Business Venturing and Technovation, with Research Policy and Management and Organization Review in progress.

Katja Tschimmel

Keynote Title Creativity And Design For A Sustainable Future

Katja Tschimmel, German by birth and Portuguese by choice, is consultant and executive trainer, researcher and lecturer, coach and conference speaker. She is working in both, the business world (Mindshake - Consultancy and Training in Creativity and Design Thinking) and the academic (Porto University and Porto Business School).

Having a Ph.D in Design and a Masters in Applied Creativity, Katja researches, teaches and publishes in the fields of Creativity, Design Thinking and Innovation for more than 20 years. She publishes regularly in the area of creativity and design, having recently published the books “Creativity and Innovation Affairs” (2022), “CriAtivaMente/TheCreativeMind/CreA(c)tivaMente” (2020) and “The Creativity Virus” (2019).

Katja is the author of the Evolution 6 Design Thinking model, which she applies in training and coaching of innovation teams in several kind of organisations. Clients of her company Mindshake are, between others: BA Glass, Cereális, dst group, Farfetch, IKEA, LIPOR, Natixis, NOS, Roche, Sogrape, SONAE, and several academic research institutions, such as INESC TEC ou INEGI.

In the consultancy field, she specialized in supporting the design of innovation frameworks and their organisational implementation. Applying ethnographic research, strategic thinking and creative problem solving, Katja also supports organizations in projects of change management and the development of innovation frameworks.

Since January 2023, she is the Portuguese Ambassador of the World Creativity and Innovation Week.

António Murta

Keynote Title Medical AI – Primary Care and Hospital Applications

António is Managing Partner, co-founder and CEO of Pathena. Also, António serves as Non-exec Board Member and Observer in the Board of various Pathena Fund invested companies.

António holds a degree in systems engineering from Minho University, an MBA from Porto Business School (University of Porto), an AMP from INSEAD (France). His post-graduate studies include ISEE / University of Navarra (Spain) and MIT (Sloan School of Management US) and Singularity University (US) – Exponential Medicine.

From 1991 to 1997 he was CIO of Sonae Distribuição, the largest Portuguese retailer at the time. He founded and was CEO of Enabler from 1998 onwards – Enabler was a systems integrator strictly focused in retail. Enabler was acquired by Wipro in 2006 and from then to the end of 2009 he was VP of retail services at Wipro. He is also a Founding Partner and business angel of various other IT, Digital Health, Digital Therapeutics and MedTech companies.

António is Founding Board Member of Endeavor Portugal, Non-Exec Board Member of Immunethep and Non-Exec Board Member of Casa de Investimentos. He is also a seasoned speaker in innovation and entrepreneurship. Finally, he is recurrently an invited referee/jury in Healthtech / Medtech events across Europe.

Special IAMOT Cruise

There are six magnificent bridges that unite the two sides of the Douro River. Have fun on a Six Bridges Cruise and get to know them on a special cruise dedicated to IAMOT congress participants. On board you will have snacks & a drink and the company of the other participants.

Braga and Guimarães Tour - Full Day

This exciting journey has its first stop will be Braga, the Capital of Minho, and then will discover the historic city of Guimarães. Prepare your cameras and come with us to explore two of the most important cities for the History of Portugal!

Our tour starts in the direction of Braga. Along the way, enjoy the lush green landscape of mountains, valleys and rivers. Braga is a deeply religious city and this guided tour allows you to visit: the oldest Cathedral of Portugal, and the Bom Jesus Sanctuary (UNESCO). Exciting, right?

Later, we will find the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, one of the greatest highlights of this tour. Famous for its endless stairs and Baroque details, this place will definitely impress you! Not only a religious monument but also a truly romantic and relaxing place, with stunning views of the city. Here, Nature is privileged and protected with the utmost affection.

It's now time to visit the magnificent Cathedral of Braga (also known as Sé de Braga), a monument that combines three different styles: Romanesque, Manueline and Baroque. It is the oldest Cathedral in Portugal - it was even built several decades before the founding of the country! Undoubtedly, this imposing Cathedral is the greatest landmark of Braga.

We will walk through the historic centre of Braga and discover some of the most important streets and gardens of the city, such as the Santa Bárbara Garden, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in Portugal.

We will take a break in the historic centre of Braga to enjoy a tasty traditional lunch (optional). Relax and appreciate this time.

After lunch, we will drive to Guimarães, the birthplace of Portugal and a World Heritage Site, since 2001. This was the city where the first King of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, was born. The history of Guimarães is related to the foundation of the national identity and the Portuguese language.

We will have the opportunity to enter and explore the Castle of Guimarães, the 10th-century national symbol. From the outside, its medieval structure looks impressive; on the inside, you can have stunning views over the city. Then, we will continue passing through the Palace of the Bragança Dukes and the São Miguel Church.

Observe the imposing statue of D. Afonso Henriques and walk through the Martins Sarmento Square. To end this short walking tour, you will discover the Santa Maria Street, the City Hall, the Santiago Square, and the Senhora da Oliveira Church.

Guimarães is an authentic example of the evolution of a medieval city throughout History!
